Spirituality is hardwired into the human experience. Religion is communally organized spirituality. From that perspective, it seems clear that religion is here to stay, although the forms it takes will evolve and change over time.

Where is the path to peace? Is force or the threat of force needed to maintain it? This is a paradox we’re still grappling with as we seek to put an end to war. Pacifism and pragmatism seem at odds with each other.

Throughout his book, Not in God’s Name: Confronting Religious Violence, Rabbi Sacks shares many of the translators’ choices and how they have led to religiously inspired violence.

Though Christians interpret what resurrection means in varying ways, at the heart of the message of Easter is a celebration that the world can be changed by love, and the power of love being even stronger than death.

I have been reflecting on the significance of Good Friday and Easter Sunday as Christians have commemorated over the last 20 centuries. For me, each day in Holy Week has its own reflection and ethos leading up to the incomparable events of Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

It is heartening seeing rallies for Gaza each weekend at the BC legislature. And there is hope that our religious traditions can teach us how to listen and work together for a better future for all.

Ancient religious teachings can show us a way to turn our world the rightside up - to be agents for positive change . If like me you believe that together we can be agents for positive change and live in a world filled with peace and compassion, than you are a person of faith.
